We offer different types of Mask workshops and trainings for people of any level of education. Both children and adults (but not mixed groups). Animation, mask-acting, physical training, mask-making, improvisation and interactive acting.

“AnimaArt” – technique of interactive play in mask.

On September 19-20, St. Petersburg street theater “Mr. PEJO’s Wandering Dolls” presents a workshop “AnimaArt”. As a result we hope to find a few people for further participation in our projects.

Program Master Class:
1. Theory. Russia and foreign street theater today. A small overview of what is street theater today. What is Russia’s street theater, what happens abroad. What are the particular means of expression typical of street theater. What role in a street theater play mask?
2. Practice. The mask as a means of creating an image. Practical study of creating an image with a mask (a basic technique of reviving mask theater, Mr. PEJO). Studies in Mechanics interactive. Master class includes single-game format and creating a short animated characters through household items, draperies, and so on.

Animation or animation masks – a rare genre of street art, which for 16 years working “Mr.PEJO’s Wandering Dolls”. For many years, “Wandering Dolls” is a member of European festival of street theater. The mask – one of our main tools: we rely on the tradition of the Venetian carnival masks, masks of Commedia dell’arte, medieval masks comedians … The performances of theater – author masks, they create a special world of fantasy, fiction, attracting their extravagance and truthfulness. We have been working without a “fourth wall” and call our technique “anima-interactive”.
Interactive is when the audience is with the actors and not actors with the audience. The mask makes a surprising transformation: the actor ceases to be a man in a suit, and becomes a character, fantastic creatures. And then the audience included a wonderful mechanism. He already plays with a toy! And here there is a special point of trust, the point of improvisation. Mask – is not just something that covers his face. This is some plastic, and even some school! But the true calling of a street theater troupe, with its unique variety, limitless opportunities for growth actor’s individuality and creative new discoveries.

Master Class runs 19 and 20 September c 15.00 to 18.00 (3 hours), ie the total duration of 6 hours.
Pre-registration is required. Fee – 1500 rub. (1000r. prepayment for the week. For the students – also 1000r.)
Venue – our rehearsal room at Peterhof. (30 minutes by bus from the metro Avtovo, stop “Local Works”)
